Teams, without the “getting picked last” part
Remember playground games? Things like tag, capture the flag and throwing dog poo at girls? PickTeams is trying to recapture that feeling, launching a site for flash-based casual games played real-time in teams.
PickTeams just launched in late March, and they’ve already added two free games: Alphablitz and Pocket Towers. The latter (tagline: Is that a tower in your pocket, you creep?) is a riff on the popular “tower defense” genre of single-player games. Pocket Towers, which just launched on Monday, lends a new degree of marvelous chaos to the traditional recipe. Rather than merely defending against waves of oncoming computer-generated creeps, players cooperate to build intense defenses and send their own creeps against their opponents. Holy shit!

After spending a couple hours playing Pocket Towers, PickTeams’ other game will seem comparatively low-key. In Alphablitz, teams race to find words in a matrix of letters. All gameplay happens real-time, so words can’t be found twice… even by two different teams. It all makes me wish I paid a bit more attention in grammar school… rather than, say, throwing dog poo at girls. I think it should be renamed Boggle on Crack Cocaine.

So how do you find teams to play with, you ask? That part is pretty simple, and it doesn’t involve pick-offs. You can play with friends in private rooms as you like, or you can wander into a room by yourself and have a team of real people handed to you. Or you can gather up your own casual gaming uber-clan and go from room to room owning people. Your choice.
Given that PickTeams seems to have gained most of its initial traffic from college campuses in the US-and the social features of the site–it’s one of the better gaming sites on which to meet cute girls (if that’s your preference). PickTeams also lets players “rep” their favorite college, high school or sports team while playing. These points are factored into an “affinity leaderboard“, which is apparently a giant ranking of everything from Ivy League schools to ninjas in their casual gaming proficiency.
PickTeams is slated to release a couple new games in the next few months, including a team-based world domination game (appropriately called “Domination”) set to launch in early May.

We should get a CGI team up!
I haven´t figured out how to change from the default team it places you in, much less how to make one
. At the moment… I kid you not… I am repping the “Princesses” 
There’s a small “change team” link in the waiting room before a match starts that you can click to select a new team to rep. It’s not obvious. but hopefully that will be a design tweak in the near future.
Haha, crap now I feel like an idiot. But yeah, like you said its not in the obvious places I looked, like the teams list or my edit profile pages…
